About Our Namesake

James & Keiko Davidson

The school was named for James & Keiko Davidson. Keiko is a veteran teacher and administrator. Davidson dedicated her 35-year professional career to educating children and building successful schools. Twenty-nine of those years were spent in Katy I.S.D. She came to the district in 1984 and during her tenure she served in a variety of capacities at the elementary, junior high and high school levels as a Special Education teacher, speech pathologist and assistant principal before assuming the duties as principal of Hutsell Elementary in 2001.

Davidson grew up in the Detroit metropolitan area, graduated from high school in Bloomfield Hills and attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in speech pathology and audiology with a minor in psychology. In addition, she earned her teaching credentials and Special Education endorsements. She worked as an itinerant speech pathologist for three years in Michigan. Keiko married Jim Davidson in 1981 and immediately relocated to Houston as there were many job opportunities for both of them as teachers. Prior to coming to Katy, she also worked in the Houston Independent School District and Spring Branch I.S.D. The Davidsons have a son, daughter and son-in-law who are all graduates of Mayde Creek High School.

Davidson truly believes in the potential of all children to learn. She valued and promoted collaboration and cooperative problem solving among faculty and staff to ensure the success of each student. She focused on developing partnerships with community groups and businesses to provide quality educational opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom.

"I am honored and grateful to be the namesake of a new elementary school in Katy I.S.D., a district long known for educational excellence and for family and community involvement. It was a privilege to have served Katy I.S.D. for many years as a teacher and administrator. I now look forward to volunteering and helping to promote the future success of students in this school community." ~ Mrs. Keiko Davidson
