Hi, I’m Mrs. Arcuri. I have taught for over 30 years in high school and elementary school. I taught Fifth Grade for 15 years and am so excited to teach Fifth Grade again this year! I teach Reading and Language Arts. My husband is a Math teacher and Football coach at Seven Lakes High School. Our two daughters, Meredith and Robin, are grown, but they always visit us. Robin has a 6-year-old daughter named Ella! I love every moment of being this sweet girl's Nano. Meredith has 3 Chihuahuas, one of which is a bit evil. I love to read, write, read, do puzzles, read, and knit! The only thing I like more than reading is being with kids!
My name is Laurie Abrahamson. I am so happy to be a Dragon teaching fifth grade math this year. I grew up in Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I hold certifications in EC-8th grade, SPED for the Hearing Impaired, and ESL. I have taught many grade levels, but love 5th grade most of all. My husband and I just celebrated 25 years of marriage. I have two children, a daughter working on her master’s degree, and a son who is a junior in college. Rounding out my family is my pup Tucker. In my free time I love making things such as t-shirts and wreaths, swimming, traveling to the mountains, and spending time with my family. I am excited to build a classroom community where being a mathematician is FUN!
Hello! My name is McKayla Bobbitt and I am a 5th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at KDE! I was born in Katy but spent most of my childhood in South Texas. I attended Houston Baptist University (now Houston Christian University) for both my undergraduate and Master's degrees. I have a Master of Education in Reading and a Reading Specialist Certification. This will be my 8th year teaching, and I still love every second of it! When I am not at work, you can find me snuggling with my dog or at the gym. I am proud to serve KDE and am excited about the year ahead!
My name is Julie Connett. I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade Math and Science this year. I have been a proud Dragon for 6 years, and both my children attended this school. I am from Chicago, IL and moved to Houston in 2018. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I am a proud mom of 2. In my free time I love to read, spend time with my family, go to the theater, and anything outdoors. I am very excited to get to know you this year and building a strong classroom community!
Hi! My name is Sarah Feese, and I love being a KDE Dragon! I grew up in a small town and moved to Houston in 2012. I graduated from the University of Houston with my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 2015. I have been teaching for over 10 years, and I have taught RLA and Social Studies in 4th-8th grade! I am also a proud mom to my twins, so when I am not at school, I am taking them to all sorts of activities. In my free time I love to read, spend time with my husband and children, walk my dogs, and go to Starbucks.
My name is Jennifer Simpson and I love being a KDE Dragon! This is my fourth year teaching in 5th grade (after teaching off and on in various grades and districts for 10) and I'm excited to be adding social studies to my math and science repertoire. I'm originally from Louisiana and love "passing a good time" inside and out of the classroom. I love spending my free time reading, traveling, watching movies, and hanging out with my two adult children and my 9 year-old bulldog! I also love everything Disney and cheering on the Houston Astros!
My name is Julie Berardi. I'm excited for another great year with our 5th grade dragons! I have been an educator for 15 years. I earned my Bachelors degree from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2008 and my Masters of Education in School Counseling in 2014. I began my teaching career in 2008 in Cy-fair ISD as a math interventionist for 2nd-4th grade students. I gained more teaching experience over the years in Alief ISD as a 4th grade self-contained teacher and then took a year off to care for my newborn son. I joined Katy ISD in 2018 and feel so blessed to be apart of such an amazing community and staff. My husband and I have a son, Elliott, that is our pride and joy and also joining KDE this year as a Kindergartner! I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing video games, camping, and crafting. Looking forward to a great year with all of my students and families!
Hello! My name is Wellyna Olivier. I am a 5th grade math/science teacher. I have been working in education for 23 years. I started my career in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I worked in East Baton Rouge Parish for 9 years. I missed my family which is what brought me back to Katy. I am a proud product of Katy. I went to WME, WMJH, and graduated from Katy Highschool. I am honored that I have had the privilege to work and serve here in Katy ISD for the past 14 years. The best part of my job is working with our fabulous dragons in a collaborative space to create the magic that’s involved in learning. A little bit about myself, I have been married to my wonderful husband Herb for 16 years and I have 2 beautiful daughters. My daughter Ana will be a sophomore at Taylor High School and Ava is a 6th grader at West Memorial Junior High. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, dabble in makeup, draw, try new foods, learn new things, and LSU sports! Geaux Tigers!
